Student Spotlight – Maria Casal

We had a chance to catch up with busy student, Maria Casal, on her way to becoming a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. Ms. Casal is a student in both Wedding and Event Planning and Floral Design 1.

Maria’s project one (1) was to design an event and bring her “A Game” to the design and event experience. We enjoyed her project and we think you’ll enjoy it too!

What 3 things would you like to share about yourself?

1. I like to run.

2. I like to design and decorate events and I love to learn new things.

3. I’m a little perfectionist.

Why did you enroll in the Certified Wedding and Event Planning and Design Programs?

I have an advertising agency and we work more corporate events. I liked the idea of learning other areas and certifying myself as a professional event planner. I read about the course on the Lovegevity website and did not hesitate to join the program.

What was the inspiration for this project?

The inspiration for this project was creating an enchanting wedding for a very special couple. The bride’s desire of a fairytale wedding inspired me to propose to the couple an entire event that reflected the romantic and magic vision the couple had for that special day.

What did you find to be the most challenging?

I think the most challenging was finding the correct images and words that best described the design style created for each of the stages of this project.

Through the images and the description of the presentation, I wanted the couple to be transported to each moment of the event and imagined it like they had dreamed it.

What was your favorite part?

I really enjoyed choosing the attire, accessories, food selection, gifts and personalized details of the event, but definitely my favorite part was to visualize how the proposal of a wedding was taking shape stage by stage, which made me enjoy the development of this project.

What was the biggest take-away you learned?

I learned many new tools with this project. This is the first time I work with the A8 format and it helped me a lot to organize and present in order the concept and details of the event.

I also learned to use canvas to be able to present my photos in a more professional way, and I love it. And finally, this is the first time I do a presentation in a web format, so this project has left me many new teachings.

What advice do you have for anyone planning to start a career in wedding and event planning?

My recommendation would be to first know your clients’ profile: what they like, their expectations about the event, their budget, their expectations about your work.

Also, when planning an event, you are always going to need vendors, work with the best in your area and establish good relations with them. Finally, always keep a clear communication with both clients and vendors.
