We had a chance to catch up with busy student, Mackenzie Quinonez, on her way to becoming a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. Ms. Quinonez is a student in both Wedding and Event Planning and Signature Wedding and Event Design.

Mackenzie’s project one (1) was to design an event and bring her “A Game” to the design and event experience. We enjoyed her project and we think you’ll enjoy it too!

What 3 things would you like to share about yourself?

1. I am a mother to a darling little boy!

2. I have been a Martha Stewart enthusiast since infancy!

3. I cherish every moment, because not one second will ever be the same.

Why did you enroll in the Certified Wedding and Event Planning and Design Programs?

My lovely and talented mother provided my indoctrination to the event and design world in my infancy. As a toddler, I would ask my mother if I could watch “Martha Stewart” and “Christopher Lowell”.

Since declaring at the age of eight that wedding and event planning was what I wanted to do when I grew up, that declaration has fueled my passions ever since. I enrolled in Lovegevity University and immersed myself into the Master Class program to encourage growth in my deepest passions.

What was the inspiration for this project?

I have always had the fantasy of having a baby shower for a little girl. I took my dreams, family stories, our traditions, and created the perfect event for my daydreaming mind.

What did you find to be the most challenging?

I found that only sourcing locally was a challenge. As I do reside in Arizona and our access to resources is limited. In this day and age the internet has allowed planners and designers alike to remove all location limitations and sky’s the limit on all aspects of an event or wedding.

What was your favorite part?

This event was magnificent because I was able to see the entire aesthetic in my head come to life on paper. It is absolutely incredible to be in love with the design in your head and make it a reality.

I know that when clients have that moment of bliss, I will have done my job with the design, the next task is to deliver a seamless event, and be prepared for anything that comes my way.

What was the biggest take-away you learned?

I learned that creating strong reciprocal bonds with vendors and locations will yield you a team of truly amazing people who will always be there for you in a time of need or for a lunch date! 😉

What advice do you have for anyone planning to start a career in wedding and event planning?

Dream, dream bigger, and let your limitations cease to exist. We can always edit later.
