We had a chance to catch up with busy student, Kimberly Cleveland, on her way to becoming a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. Ms. Cleveland is a student in Wedding and Event Planning.

Kimberly’s project one (1) was to design an event and bring her “A Game” to the design and event experience. We enjoyed her project and we think you’ll enjoy it too!

What 3 things would you like to share about yourself?

1. I’m married and decided to pursue wedding planning after planning my own wedding.

2. I have a rescue puggle that is 8 years old.

3. I have a Master’s Degree in Marketing.

Why did you enroll in the Certified Wedding and Event Planning and Design Programs?

I joined this program to learn as much as possible about owning and operating a wedding coordinator business.

What was the inspiration for this project?

I decided to have my couple be in the performing arts field. There didn’t seem a better way to have two theater arts professionals get married than with an old Hollywood Glam theme. I used that as my inspiration and tied in hints of art deco design with simple soft colors.

What did you find to be the most challenging?

The hardest part of the program was getting started. It was a bit overwhelming seeing the long list of assignments and details required for the projects. But after jumping right in and starting the readings it all starting flowing. My inspiration and excitement for the projects came naturally.

What was your favorite part?

My favorite part was the flexibility and encouragement to be creative. I loved Canva and building my own designs. It gave me so much freedom and feeling of accomplishment.

What was the biggest take-away you learned?

Nothing is easy. Getting into the wedding business can’t be done overnight. If you put in the hard work you can succeed!

What advice do you have for anyone planning to start a career in wedding and event planning?

Set mini goals. I found it to be the most rewarding to give myself a goal of when to get something done. Do your best to stay ahead of schedule and ask for help if you need it.
