We had a chance to catch up with busy student, Delicia Idlett, on her way to becoming a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. Ms. Idlett is a student in Wedding and Event Planning.

Delicia’s project two (2) was to sell her company’s products and services to a new client.

What did you find to be the most challenging?

The most challenging part for me was defining who I am. I had to first identify my real passion and love for what I do, my purpose and direction. I’ve always known that I love all things events, but to be able to honestly write my “About” page I had to truly identify my real passion.

I can honestly say that I am passionate about all things events. (I did a lot researches, constantly visited Pinterest, attended many events, envisioned my unique designs etc.)

What was your favorite part?

I have to say that my favorite part was researching the market trends in my area. Because of this, I met many important people in the industry. I have connected with judges and commissioners and I’ve gained much knowledge of what’s happening in the community.

What was the biggest take-away you learned?

My biggest take away is to always finding a way to be unique; offer services that will interest people and the ability to influence people.

What advice do you have for anyone planning to start a career in wedding and event planning?

My advice is to always think BIG, know your abilities and your strengths, and make sure that this is something that you are passionate about. Own your uniqueness because we all have something great to offer. Stay on path, follow Lovegevity course outlines, as I learned the hard way when I got off path which was a minor setback.

You must remain focused. This will demand sacrifices to be able to succeed. The most important thing is to have FUN, love what you do, step out of your comfort zone, learn the industry and aim to be the best of the best in everything that you do.

Jon Bon Jovi once said:
“Nothing is as important as passion. No matter what you want to do with your life, be passionate.”
