COURSE SYLLABUS

Chapter 1 - Daring to Dream

Chapter One gives a brief overview of the event design industry history and Preston Bailey’s story. Chapter one also defines event design and the designation of Certified Wedding & Event Designer as well as the difference between and event planner and event designer. The fundamentals of design are also covered such as color theory and design styles.

Chapter 2 - Defining the Dream

Defining the Dream is all about turning inspirations into reality. Preston Bailey’s design process is outlined and his methods for capturing a client’s vision for a dream event is described in detail. Event design formulas, tools, and resources are introduced to present design concepts through floor plans and renderings.

Chapter 3 - Designing The Dream

Designing the Dream covers Preston Bailey’s process for designing an event space, from the ceiling, floors, walls, and table tops. Each area is covered step-by-step to provide an in depth look at exactly how Preston goes about designing each space.

Chapter 4 - Delivering The Dream

Delivering the Dream covers the “Day Of” production and design break down. This chapter introduces vendor service providers, strategic alliances, and business partnerships to help build a reliable network of production professionals.

Chapter 4 - Delivering The Dream

Living the Dream provides a full business case study using PB Designs, Inc. to illustrate how a successful event design company is put together. Business structure, the client process from initial contact through post-event analysis, pricing strategies, and business advice and tips are covered. This final chapter also includes Preston Bailey’s FAQs, lessons learned, and outlook on industry trends.
