We had a chance to catch up with busy student, Lauren Arsenault, on her way to becoming a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. Ms. Arsenault is a student in Wedding and Event Planning.

Lauren’s project three (3) was to prepare a project plan for her company’s grand opening event. We enjoyed her project and we think you’ll enjoy it too!

What was the inspiration for this project?

The inspiration for this project was to make all potential clients feel as though they are celebrities while they participate in my grand opening event. I wanted to make every bride feel pampered and famous because that I what I want to give them when I plan their actual weddings.

What did you find to be the most challenging?

The most challenging part of project 3 was the press release. I had to make sure it sounded very professional because if I were to send it out to someone, I would want them to take it seriously. I used examples from the resource center to make sure it was done correctly and I had people check it in order to make sure I portrayed myself in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

What was your favorite part?

My favorite part was making the actual website and doing the A6 formula. Finding pictures for the event on pinterest to match up for each part of the formula is so much fun. It is the best place to show my creativity in the project.

What was the biggest take-away you learned?

The biggest take-away I learned was that marketing is so important. There are so many ways you can market to potential clients and you should utilize as many as you can that you believe will lead to client contact.

Whether it be through social media event pages, sending out thank you notes after the event, giving out fliers at bridal shows or releasing a press statement, marketing is how you are going to get clients. People are not going to just appear. You need to work hard to get people to come to your business.

What advice do you have for anyone planning to start a career in wedding and event planning?

I most likely will not start my business this year, but next year, I plan on implementing my grand opening. I think it is a great way to get your name and business out to potential clients and vendors.
