We had a chance to catch up with busy student, Christine Brown, on her way to becoming a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. Ms. Brown is a student in Wedding and Event Planning.

Christine’s project three (3) was to prepare a project plan for her company’s grand opening event. We enjoyed her project and we think you’ll enjoy it too!

What was the inspiration for this project?

I was inspired to create a whimsical romantic grand opening event for newly engaged couples that would not provide information about my services and wedding planning but provide a great night out for potential clients and vendors as well. I knew I wanted to do a Secret Garden theme because I could create signature touches that would showcase what I want my new company to represent.

What did you find to be the most challenging?

I found it most challenging to confirm the best way to encourage potential clients to interact with vendors. I chose the Vendor Sticker Sheet concept to emphasize the importance of communicating with vendors in a fun and enticing way.

What was your favorite part?

My favorite part was creating the design elements for the event. I was very excited to incorporate vintage elements with fresh boxwood and roses throughout the event to create a relaxing but romantic atmosphere.

What was the biggest take-away you learned?

The biggest takeaway I learned from this project is making sure my marketing plan and business assets represent my corporate identity and brand image. First impressions are everything in our line of work so every detail is important. Patience, creativity, and determination will help you succeed.

Will you implement your grand opening event this year?

I plan to implement my grand opening in the next year to two years. I am expecting a baby boy in December and feel I need to continue my education and earn more certifications before I begin my journey as a business owner.
